Grateful

Grateful

Time for my second attempt at Five Minute Friday. Five minutes of writing, no editing, just hit that publish button! And the prompt is “Grateful.” Didn’t I already cover this? Oh well, I’m sure I’ll come up with something.
Yesterday at the Thanksgiving table. It has nothing to do with my post, but so what?

Begin . . .
I am grateful today. That I slept in my own bed last night. That I have never once gone to a store in the middle of the night after Thanksgiving. Some people like that kind of thing–more power to them. On the day after Thanksgiving, I prefer to clean to the tune of “White Christmas” sung by Johnny Mathis. And other Christmas songs, of course. I don’t play “White Christmas” over and over. So I am grateful today that even though it took me all day long to do it, I can sit here in the family room breathing the air of a deep down kind of clean that my house hasn’t known for months. It took me all day long to clean the downstairs, so I am grateful that God somehow afflicted me with an attention to detail that it’s hard to kick, even though that often means that it takes me forever to finish cleaning the house. If I ever get around to it.

And I’m grateful that I’ve come to the place where I am okay with relaxing on the couch of a messy, not-so-clean room. I don’t have to do that tonight, but I’m okay with it some days.

End.

What a beautiful picture of your family!!
I have never done the Black Friday, either!

There is something so wonderful about relaxing in a clean home!

Dem, I'm so looking forward to our retreat! Enjoy the remainder of your weekend, my dear.

Meredith, Thank you! Of course it's not so clean anymore, but that underlayer of dust is gone anyway. Don't know if you saw my last tweet about disqus. I will get to it one of these days. Oh, technology!
