Every baby is a miracle–but especially this one!

Every baby is a miracle–but especially this one!

I meant to write about this in yesterday’s post, but forgot after my struggle with video uploading! A while ago, I wrote about my friend Susan, who was 24 weeks pregnant when the doctors discovered that she’d had a small placental abruption at 13 weeks. (They’d initially made the wrong diagnosis.) Since the abruption presented dangers of bleeding, premature labor, or premature rupture of the membranes, Susan had to go on bedrest basically for the rest of her pregnancy. At that time, the baby had a 1 in 5 chance of surviving. This was so overwhelming for Susan and Joe, who also have a 2-year-old, Mason, so I emailed a lot of you, asking you to pray and posted about it here. I cannot imagine facing 10-plus weeks of bedrest, coupled with the fear involved. Thank you, thank you , THANK YOU for praying! We have a great God, who continually shows us His love in amazing ways. Susan and Joe’s new baby, Josiah, was born on April 17th at 9:51 am, weighing 6 lbs. 7 ozs., 20 inches long. He was 3 1/2 weeks early, but perfectly healthy!

    Hi Alison,
Thanks for the book recommendation. That’s quite a miracle story about your friend’s baby! I have a friend in Virginia who’s got a friend going through a similar situation–leaking fluid and she’s 24 weeks pregnant. The doctors hope she’ll make it to 32 weeks.
